    Site refocused on MTD; trust pages added

    IsMyTaxDigital narrowed its scope to MTD for sole traders and landlords. Generic UK tax calculators were de-emphasised. Editor, methodology, and editorial policy pages were added. The newsletter was removed; quarterly deadline reminders are now provided as downloadable .ics calendar files.

  2. 6 April 2026

    MTD for Income Tax goes live for the £50,000 cohort

    The first MTD for Income Tax mandation date arrived. Sole traders and landlords whose 2024-25 qualifying income exceeded £50,000 are now required to keep digital records and file quarterly updates through HMRC-compatible software.

  3. 26 November 2025

    Autumn Budget 2025: soft landing and expanded MTD exemptions

    The Chancellor announced a soft-landing on penalty points for late quarterly updates in the 2026/27 tax year (the final declaration deadline still attracts full penalties), and expanded the permanent MTD exemption list to include holders of Power of Attorney, Court of Protection deputies, and ministers of religion.

  4. 21 July 2025

    MTD for Corporation Tax formally scrapped

    HMRC published its Transformation Roadmap, confirming that there are no plans to extend Making Tax Digital to Corporation Tax. VAT-registered companies remain in MTD for VAT.

  5. 6 April 2025

    Furnished Holiday Lets regime abolished

    The FHL tax regime was abolished. FHL income now sits within the normal property-business rules, including for MTD qualifying-income purposes.
