Editorial and corrections policy

Last updated: 2 May 2026

IsMyTaxDigital covers UK tax rules. People rely on this content to make decisions about HMRC obligations, so the editorial standards are stricter than a typical hobby site. This page explains how content is produced, checked, and corrected.

Sources

Every factual claim about MTD rules, thresholds, deadlines, software, and penalties is taken from primary HMRC guidance on gov.uk, supplemented where helpful by the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG), the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), and other recognised UK tax bodies. Direct gov.uk links are provided next to specific claims so readers can verify the source.

Where the site reproduces content from HMRC under the Open Government Licence v3.0, the standard attribution applies. The site does not use the Royal Arms, the GOV.UK wordmark, or any branding that would imply official endorsement.

How updates work

Pages with tax rules carry a visible "Last reviewed" date. After every UK Budget, every HMRC announcement that affects MTD, and every policy paper that touches the rules covered on the site, the affected pages are reviewed and the date is bumped.

A rolling, dated log of meaningful HMRC changes lives on the MTD changelog page. That page is the canonical record of what changed and when.

Corrections

If you spot something that does not match HMRC's current guidance, please report it via the contact form. Confirmed errors are corrected as quickly as possible, with a short note added to the changelog explaining what changed.

If a correction materially changes the answer the site previously gave (for example, a threshold value or a start date), the change is called out at the top of the affected page until the next scheduled review.

No personal advice

Nothing on this site is personal tax, legal, or financial advice. The tools and guides are general information based on published HMRC rules. For decisions that affect your finances, speak to a qualified accountant or tax adviser who can look at your specific situation.

The site does not, and will not, hold itself out as an HMRC agent or tax practice.

Independence and disclosure

As of 2 May 2026, IsMyTaxDigital carries no advertising, sponsored content, or affiliate links. If that ever changes, every paid link will be labelled clearly ("Ad" or "Sponsored") above the fold on the relevant page, and a summary of any commercial relationships will be added to this page.

The site is operated by Mehmet Demir as an independent side project. It has no commercial relationship with any HMRC-recognised software vendor, accountancy firm, or lead-generation network.

AI and automated content

Drafts are sometimes prepared with AI assistance, but every published page is reviewed line by line against the cited HMRC source before publication and after every significant rules change. Pages are not published wholesale from AI output.
