IsMyTaxDigital is built and maintained by Mehmet Demir, a software engineer based in the UK. This site is an independent side project, not a business.
I built IsMyTaxDigital because the official HMRC pages on Making Tax Digital are accurate but dense, and most other resources online are accountancy-firm landing pages designed to capture leads. I wanted a quick, neutral, plain-English answer to one question: do I need to do MTD, and if so, when?
The site started as a weekend project to help a friend who runs a small property portfolio work out whether the new rules applied to him. It grew from there.
I am a software engineer, not a chartered accountant or a tax adviser. I do not give personal tax advice, and nothing on this site should be treated as a substitute for a qualified professional looking at your specific situation.
Every calculation and result on this site is grounded in HMRC's published guidance, with direct gov.uk links so you can check the source. The full logic for each tool is documented on the methodology page.
